Important Information

Who Can Enrol?

Community Education is subsidised by the Tertiary Education Commission, which enables us to keep our fees low. Continuing education programmes are available to any person who meets the following criteria:

You must be a New Zealand citizen OR have permanent residence in New Zealand
You must be at least 16 years old
You must not be currently enrolled as a full time secondary school student
Non-residents may attend these courses but fees are not subsidised. Please discuss fees for your class with the co-ordinator.

Fees

We are fortunate to have funding from the Tertiary Education Commission for a large number of our courses, which enables us to keep the fees down. In some classes, materials used as part of the course must be paid for by the students.

Fees are to be paid prior to the commencement of the course to GORE HIGH SCHOOL. Enrolments by telephone will be accepted as provisional enrolments only. To secure your placement, payment of the course fee is necessary.

Refunds

Refunds are made in full if a class does not commence due to insufficient enrolments. Individual application for any other refunds will be made at the discretion of the Community Education Staff.

Course Evaluations

Ongoing evaluations are an important part of our programme. As a student in an adult education class you will be requested to complete a short evaluation form near the end of your course. These are anonymous and confidential. The responses will be used to monitor trends and to plan for positive changes as necessary.

Complaints Procedure

While we aim to serve our community well, there are occasions when we miss the target. If you have a complaint regarding your course, or any aspect of our community education programme, we urge you to discuss this with either your class tutor or with the Co-ordinator, Julie Watkins (03) 208 5654 or e-mail comedu@gore-high.school.nz. If you have a complaint about the co-ordinator contact the Rector. It is useful to put your complaint in writing.

Consultation

During 2009 there will be community consultation to ensure Gore High School’s Community Education classes continue to serve the needs of our local community. If you wish to be involved in this consultation, please contact Julie Watkins (03) 208 5654.

Smoking

No smoking is permitted in any school building or on school grounds.

Regulations

Any changes in Government policy or regulations, as determined by the Tertiary Education Commission may result in changes to our programme or in fee charges. Decisions of the school Board of Trustees may also result in such changes.
