Welcome

Hello. My name is Eoin Crosbie and I welcome you to GORE HIGH SCHOOL. Our vision is “Learning to make a difference!”
We absolutely believe that it can.
Many of the students attending Gore High School have parents and even grandparents who were students here before them. Steeped in proud traditions
which date back to our founding roots in 1908, we acknowledge their importance in the context of a modern world.
At Gore High School we strive to achieve the same as what our forefathers determined was important to them, namely, to bring the very best out in each student. In the junior school we are focused on developing and broadening learning skills. Attitude is everything. Establishing good learning habits at Year 9 and 10 helps enormously with the challenge of achieving well in the senior school. Our Junior Graduation programme is there specifically for that purpose.

The traditional values are also our guiding lights as we care for and provide a supportive environment, which encourages and expects achievement and excellence. Highly qualified and experienced teachers are here to assist in the development of students’ personal and social skills, academic potential, sporting and cultural interest and care for others. Great rewards come from developing students to the point where they leave with a lifelong love of learning. Learning is our business. We plan for it, create the environment for it to occur and reward it. The Education Review Office (ERO) recently reviewed our school and concluded the following:

  • “The school has a strong focus on student achievement.”
  • “The junior graduation programme, in particular, has a positive influence on the attitudes and achievement of junior school students.”
  • “Students are set high expectations for work and behaviour. Specific learning outcomes are communicated clearly to them.”
  • “Students were observed to be motivated and on task.”

I trust that by reading viewing this website and visiting the school you will have the confidence in Gore High School to provide the environment and opportunity for a sound education nurtured in many ways. I would like to extend a warm welcome to newly enrolled students and their families.
