About Gore

Gore High School is located in the town of Gore, the second largest municipality in Southland - the southern-most province of New Zealand’s stunning South Island. With a population of approximately 10,000 residents, Gore services a prosperous rural community. Students at Gore High School represent a mix of Gore’s rural and urban residents and international students.

Gore is a vibrant, friendly community with many unique amenities:

• Train, relax or play in our modern swimming pool or indoor stadium

• Try ice-skating, ice hockey or curling at Southland’s only ice rink

• Visit Gore’s internationally renowned art and heritage precinct

• Take a flight in a vintage Tiger Moth at the Croydon Aviation Heritage Centre

Gore is centrally located to southern New Zealand’s major attractions and airports. We are a short one or two-hour drive from:

• Queenstown, Wanaka, Te Anau and the Southern Lakes district

• Incredible skiing at Coronet Peak, The Remarkables, Cardrona and Treble Cone ski fields

• The majestic scenery and outdoor playgrounds of Fiordland, Milford Sound, Stewart Island, and the Catlins

• Dunedin’s and Queenstown’s international airports and Invercargill’s domestic airport
